Hi, my name is Melissa. I am 28 years old, I was diagnosed with PCOS in March of this year, though I am pretty sure I’ve had it for at least 10 years.
Fortunately, I don’t have any symptoms besides very irregular periods and cysts. I have always kind of known that there was something wrong with me because of my irregular periods, I would go 8 or 9 months without one. I was an athlete all through high school and college so my Doctors would always tell me it was normal for athletes to be irregular.
Well, 10 years later (not an athlete anymore but still very active), I decided that I needed more answers and tried a new doctor. After explaining to him my irregular periods he immediately did an ultrasound and diagnosed me with PCOS. Now, nearly 5 months into it, I’ve been on 4 different types of BC pills (some did nothing at all, no period and some made me totally nuts with crazy symptoms, even lactating).
I am at the point where I am just so frustrated and ready to find something that will actually help. My Doctor wouldn’t put me on met because I am not over weight. I feel very unstable like my hormones are always out of wack. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks girls!
