I am new to the site but I am so glad I finally found a place to get answers to the many questions that I have had since I was diagnosed.
I am 22 years old and will be marrying the love of my life in May. I found out less than a year ago that I had PCOS after I went off of birth control and after 4 months with no periods I finally went to the doctor. She did some ultra sounds and some tests and concluded that I had insulin resistant PCOS.
I had no idea there are 5 types nor do I know which I am. I only know I am considered overweight(obese at 6′ 210lbs) and that I am insulin resistant. She was very cold and uninformative but did manage to tell me that I may not ever get pregnant. I was devastated and left the doctors office in tears.
Since then I have begun taking Metformin 500mg twice daily, along with prenatal vitamins, and birth control ( to help control the cysts according to my doctor). I really want a baby more than anything in the world and I have been struggling to lose weight but have lost about 15lbs so far.
I just fear I may never be able to get pregnant and I want to be able to give my future husband children. What else can I or should I do? Any tips? All help is greatly appreciated.
