After getting married in 2006 I gained 50 pounds in 3 years. I have had irregular periods my whole life. But didnt think anything of it when I was a teenager.

After going off BC I had 2 normal periods and then started having them every 3-5 months. This has been going on for almost 2 years now. I have seen two different Gyn. The first tested my testosterone and glucose levels and said that they were both in the normal range.

And that I didn’t have PCOS. I moved and the second Gyn. I saw said she would disagree and that she would say I do have it. But neither Gyn. has seemed to concerned. I am obviously hoping that I do not have it, but I want to make sure to get the proper tests in order to determine a diagnosis.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what I should ask my Gyn. to test. What blood tests? Should I insist on an ultrasound to look for cysts?

My husband is in the military, so as long as I have a referral, my insurance will cover everything. The only problem is that you pretty much have to be your own advocate. If you don’t ask for it, they won’t do it. So please let me know what I should be asking for.

Thanks!
